New Delhi: Yoga guru Ramdev`s close aide and senior journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik on Sunday set off a fresh controversy by calling the MPs, who criticised his meeting with 26/11 attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan, ‘insane’ , adding that he feels like “spitting on their faces”.
However, Vaidik later retraced from his statement and said, “I respect Parliament, just strongly reacted against those parliamentarians who misguide it.”
Giving a clarification over his controversial statement on MPs, the freelance journalist further said, “A Parliament which takes wrong decisions under influence of wrong people, should be rejected by the people.” (sic)
69-year-old Vaidik`s meeting with Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan earlier in July, had sparked off a major row with the Congress seeking to pin down the Narendra Modi government by asking if he was sent as an emissary even as the ruling BJP distanced itself from the meeting, asserting Saeed was a “terrorist”.
Slamming Congress for “making a fool of themselves”, Vaidik had told a news agency that he cannot believe the nation was in this party`s hands for last 10 years.
Vaidik had also said that he felt bad about this furore because he has “worked with Congress, they`re my people.”
“I have been travelling to foreign nations for the past 40 years. Does embassy facilitate all those travels? I meet everyone directly,” he had cleared.
