Chandigarh, The United Nations Day would be observed on 24 October in Punjab.
According to a spokesman of the government, the United Nations Flag would be hoisted atop the Government buildings wherever the National Flag is hoisted.
The United Nations Flag would not be hoisted on Raj Bhawans/Raj Niwas’ and buildings housing Legislative Councils, Legislative Assemblies and High Courts, he added.
A circular has been sent to all the department heads, Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners for compliance in both letter and spirit. Directions have been issued that the Flag Code should be observed and wherever the United Nations Flag is available it should be hoisted on the top of Government buildings. Programmes relating to the aims and objectives of United Nations like peace, international brotherhood should be organized.
