SURREY, B.C. — Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is promising more money for home care and mental health services, as well as lower prescription drug prices.
Visiting a seniors’ home in Surrey, B.C., Trudeau says a Liberal government would spend $3 billion over four years on home care.
The Liberals say more than two million Canadians currently receive care at home, and that number is increasing as the population ages.
Trudeau is also promising money for mental health services, including new centres of excellence specializing in post-traumatic stress disorder and other conditions.
A promise on prescription drug prices is less detailed.
Trudeau says he would join the provinces in bulk-buying drugs, and would support research to reduce unnecessary over-prescribing of medications.
