HAMILTON — Justin Trudeau is asking Canadians to give his Liberals a majority mandate in Monday’s federal election.
The Liberal leader made the request Wednesday as polls suggest his party has the momentum heading into the final days of the campaign.
“I know that Canadians will make the right decision,” Trudeau said at a campaign stop at Mohawk College in Hamilton.
“Am I asking Canadians to vote for us? Yes. Am I asking them to vote for us across the country? Yes. Am I asking them for a majority government? Yes.”
Trudeau was also asked how he would stay in power if he receives a minority mandate.
He replied that Canadians don’t want politicians organizing backroom deals about who would wield power.
The Liberal leader’s tour is scheduled to make five stops Wednesday in five cities in southern Ontario.
