Tory and Del Duca are slated to speak at the East Harbour, near the base of the Don Valley Parkway and Lake Shore Boulevard at 3 p.m.
Yesterday Tory and Del Duca announced a plan for four new GO Transit stations in the city’s west end. Two new stations on the Kitchener Line will be located at Liberty Village and St. Clair Avenue and Keele Street and will support Tory’ SmartTrack plan. The other two stations will be built at Bloor Street and Lansdowne Avenue, and Spadina Avenue and Front Street and will be operated separately from SmartTrack. The east-end stations have not yet been announced. However a staff report released yesterday recommends the construction of SmartTrack stations at Gerrard Street, the Port Lands, Finch Avenue and Lawrence Avenue on the Stouffville/Lakeshore East GO corridor.
The cost of building the six expected SmartTrack stations is estimated to be between $700 million and $1.1 billion according to the report.
