Torn pages of Gutka Sahib found in Manauli village of Mohali

Mohali: Tension gripped Manauli village of Mohali district on Wednesday as several torn pages of Gutka Sahib, a Sikh holy book, were found in Saini Majra block of village.

As per the information, a villager, who was going for morning walk, spotted the torn pages in the street, located at the outskirts of the village. The pages were recovered by the villagers from the pile of garbage.

Manauli resident, Zora Singh, said, “When we came to know about this sacrilege issue, we immediately called Sohana police.”

Inspector Bhagwant Singh, SHO of Sohana police station and DSP Deep Kamal along with their team visited the village. The police have also checked the CCTV footage of the village.

DSP (city 2) Deep Kamal said, “On getting the information, we rushed to the spot to investigate the matter. At present, we are yet to identify the role of any person in it. The investigation is on and an FIR under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage reli­gious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or reli­gious beliefs) of the IPC has been registered.”
