Chandigarh, May 9, 2015: As part of the All India launch function of the Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Yojana, the UT level function was held at Chandigarh by Punjab National Bank, Convener of the UT Level Bankers’ Committee. Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Administrator UT Chandigarh launched all the three schemes in the presence of Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science & Technology, Smt. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, UT Chandigarh, Shri Vijay Dev, Advisor to the Administrator (UT Chandigarh), senior officials of UT Administration and Shri R.D. Kailey, General Manager, Punjab National Bank.
On the occasion a large number of bankers from all the banks, Bank Mitras and the customers of various banks were also present. Shri. S.K.Dua,Circle Head Punjab National Bank,in his welcome address elaborated details of the all the three scheme under Pradhan Mantri Jan Suraksha theme. He informed that banks in UT have organised various camps and have insured 12433 bank account holders under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna and 69603 bank account holders under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana on the launch day and this endeavour of inclusion of people under financial security will continue with the objective to cover all eligible account holders.
During the function, a confirmation receipt of policies under PM Jeevan Jyoti Yojna and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana were also distributed to the account holders. The august gathering also witnessed the Live telecast of National Level Launch of these schemes by Hon’ble Prime Minister at Kolkata at 6.27 pm.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science & Technology reiterated that these social security schemes under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha theme will make citizens more confident and capable assets of the Nation as their worries about financial insecurity of old age and their worries about non-earning family member in case of any mishap to earning member will be well taken care of by these social security schemes.
Sh. P.N. Khanna, Lead District Manager, PNB Chandigarh in his vote of thanks requested the Bankers & other stake holders for close coordination to accomplish the task of Social Security in UT Chandigarh .
In Punjab at Bathinda, Chief Minister of Punjab, Sh. Parkash Singh Badal launched the schemes in the presence of Union Minister of Food Processing, Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal while at Ludhiana Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Sh. Vijay Sampla launched the schemes.
In Haryana at Karnal, Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Manohar Lal Khattar launched the schemes in the presence of General (Retd.) V.K. Singh, Union Minister for State for External Affairs.
