Terror alert in Gurdaspur as PM reaches Pathankot

Chandigarh, A fresh terror attack was sounded in Gurdaspur on Saturday even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Pathankot to review the situation at the air base, a week after it was attacked by six terrorists.
As many as 1,000 Army personal and policemen laid siege to Gunjian village, 2 km from Tibri cantonment.
Only yesterday, the search operations were called off in the Pathankot air base.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Air and Army chiefs. Elaborate security arrangements are in place in Pathankot for Modi’s visit and media has been stationed near the entrance of the air base. The district administration and the Punjab Police are kept out of loop.

During his visit, the Prime Minister is also likely to undertake an aerial survey of the Indo-Pak border areas and would meet Air Force personnel at the base along with other troops in the area.
During his visit to the strategic facility on January 5, Parrikar had admitted to “some gaps” that led to the attack.
The perpetrators were believed to have infiltrated the Indian territory from a spot near Bamiyal village in Pathankot located close to the international border.
Six terrorists and seven security personnel were killed in the attack.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had called up Modi and promised action against the perpetrators of the brazen attack.
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval had called up Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday and lauded the role of the state police in providing timely inputs.
