Swimming through the night, Ontario teen completes Lake Erie challenge

Ontario,  An Ontario teen has successfully swam across Lake Erie, finishing the second leg of her challenge late Monday morning after swimming throughout the night.
Annaleise Carr, 16, completed the 33-kilometre leg just before noon Monday as hundreds of people gathered at the beach to cheer her on. This last leg of the swim took her just over 12 hours.
Carr was carried along the beach after finishing her swim, but when asked how she was feeling, she said: “Really good right now.”

In comments to fans and media after the swim, she thanked her on-land and on-water crew, as well as her family. She said this swim was easier than her last swim because the wind was pushing her for much of the leg.
Her initial 75-kilometre swim across Lake Erie beginning in Erie, Pa. was cut short at the 44-kilometre mark in late July due to challenging weather conditions.
“It was a tough decision to stop at Long Point, but I made the right one,” Carr said at a news conference in late July.
Carr is raising money for Camp Trillium. The camp OFFERS year-round recreational program to children with cancer. She has raised more than $192,000 so far.
Carr became the youngest person to known to swim across Lake Ontario two years ago, though she lost that title in early August to Trinity Arsenault.
