Surprise check on Samjhauta Express

Amritsar, The Customs, Intelligence, Amritsar (rural) police and Government Railway Police conducted a surprise check of the Samjhauta Express at Attari today, said Jasdeep Singh, SSP.He said the train was checked before it arrived at the Attari railway station. As it entered the Indian territory after crossing the international border, the train was stopped for checking, much to the surprise of passengers. The search operation lasted for two hours, but nothing objectionable was found.The train has in the past been used by anti-national elements to smuggle narcotics and arms. The SSP said an alert was sounded by intelligence agencies following ceasefire violations in the Samba sector in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday.
