Suprise checking of tehsil offices in punjab on the direction of Chief Secretary

Chandigarh, To ensure regularity, discipline and punctuality in Government offices throughout the State, a surprise checking of Tehsil offices of the State was conducted by all the Deputy Commissioners of the State on the directions of Chief Secretary, Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal. During this surprise checking, total 212 officials were found absent across the State and the show cause notices are being issued to the absentees by the concerned Deputy Commissioners.

Giving the details, official spokesperson said that this surprise checking was part of the ongoing campaign initiated by Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, to ensure punctuality in the Government offices to provide better and efficient service delivery to the citizens. He said that such inspections shall be conducted in future also and any kind of irregularity in official work and absenteeism would not be tolerated. He further said that suitable departmental proceedings shall also be initiated against erring officials.

Giving the details of the surprise checking, the official spokesperson said that 52 officials were found absent in Tehsil offices of District Jalandhar during the checking conducted by Deputy Commissioner Sh. K K Yadav. All the absent officials are being issued show cause notices.

During the surprise checking conducted by Deputy Commissioner Fazilka Mr. Manjit Singh Brar, 28 officials were found absent. The absentees included District Revenue Officer Fazilka, Naib Tehsildar Abohar and other officials of District Administrative Complex Fazilka and Tehsil Abohar.

The surprise checking in various tehsil offices of District Amritsar was conducted by Deputy Commissioner Amritsar , Mr. Ravi Bhagat. During the surprise checking, 26 officials were found absent. The absentees included Mrs. Prabhjot Kaur, RC, Mr Jasbir Singh, Reader, Mrs Veena Kumari, SDA , Mrs Barinder Kaur Billing clerk apart from other officials of tehsil offices.

During the surprise checking in District Patiala by Mr. A S Pannu, Divisional Commissioner, 24 officials were found absent. The absentees included Mrs Kiran Bala , Superintendent , Mrs Manjit Kaur, Senior Assistant Mr. Kulwinder Kaur, Clerk, Mrs Sarita Rani, Junior Steno , apart from other officials of tehsil offices.

In District, Fatehgarh Sahib , Mr Arun Sekhri, Deputy Commissioner found 24 officials absent during his surprise checking at 9:04 am. Those who were found absent include Mr. Hari Lal Tehsildar Fatehgarh Sahib ,Mr. Swarn Singh, SDA, Mrs Santosh Kumari, Junior Assistant and other officials of Tehsil offices.

Similarly many officials were found absent in tehsil offices of other Districts during the surprise checking done by the concerned Deputy Commissioners. Taking serious note of the absenteeism of officials in tehsil offices of the State, Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal has asked Financial Commissioner Revenue to take strict action against the erring officials and to ensure punctuality and discipline in all the Tehsil offices.

A similar surprise inspection was conducted in the office of Director Agriculture and Punjab Seed Corporation, Chandigarh by Ms. Gurpreet Sapra, Special Secretary, Personnel along with Joint Secretary, Vigilance on the directions of Chief Secretary, Punjab and found 85 officials absent including Mr. Mangal Singh, Director Agriculture. The other absentees included five Joint Directors namely Mr. Nirankar Singh, Kawaljit Singh, Dev Raj Kalia, Sarabjit Singh and Rajneesh Chander Mehta , besides others. Chief Secretary has asked Financial Commissioner Development to seek explanation of absentee officials and take necessary action within 7 days.

The official spokesperson said that such inspections shall be conducted in future also and any kind of irregularity in official work and absenteeism would not be tolerated.
