New Delhi, May 21: On the initiative of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) summer camps begin today in twelve schools of the DSGMC which will continue till May 25. Disclosing this in a statement released here today, the DSGMC General Secretary Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that keeping in view the weather conditions the timings of the camps have been scheduled for first half of the day from 7.30 am to 12.00 pm. He said that camps have started in twelve branches of Guru Harkrishan Public Schools in which students will be given proper teaching on Turban Tying, correct reading, understanding and recitation of Gurbani, knowledge regarding Panj Kakkars, value of Turban Tying and in addition Gatka, Painting, Singing etc. will also be part of the camps.Sirsa and Jagdeep Singh Khallon, Chairman, GHPS Tilak Nagar said that apart from these parents will be invited to the camps and they will be encouraged to create Punjabi speaking atmosphere in their homes. He said that special emphasis will be laid on learining and teaching of Punjabi language for those who are not very proficient . He said that a special counter for free books will be organized in GHPS Punjabi Bagh for parents. He said that divinity teachers, music teachers and Granthi singhs from nearest Gurudwara Sahib will assist the staff of schools for these camps. He said that after conclusion of camps, inter school competitions will be conducted including Turban Tying competition, Gurbani and Kirtan Recitation competition and Declamation competition in Punjabi.
