* Fixes December 2016 as deadline for completion of project
*Meets world-renowned companies to execute master plan
* Announces attractive incentive for companies accomplishing the project well in time
Chandigarh, May 30 : Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today finalised Rs. 6000 crore water supply, sewerage, street lights, roads, STPs with a view to ensure availability of all basic amenities in all areas of the state.
While meeting the Chief Executive Officers, Vice Presidents and representatives of various world-renowned companies working in the field of civic amenities, Mr. Badal said the project should be completed within next one and half year. He stressed that it should be ensured that all amenities are made available and operational on 10 years maintenance basis by December 2016. Mr. Badal said the project envisions complete water supply, sewerage, solid waste management, sewerage treatment plants, street lights, water supply and sewerage connections to each house.
Discussing his vision in this regard with the companies, DEputy CM said the state had floated tenders for Amritsar and Bathinda with world class sewerage treatment plants. He said that the same would be replicated in the remaining parts of the state. He said that he would personally review the progress and operations, once the tenders have been floated. He said the successful bidders would look after the maintenance of project for 10 years. Mr. Badal also maintained that the project would be awarded to companies on turnkey basis to ensure the smooth flow of civic services.
Mr. Badal also asked Chief Secretary Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal and Principal Secretary Local Bodies Mr. Ashok Gupta to ensure the pre-qualify bid system so that only technically, physically and financially professional companies could be chosen for tenders. He said after one and half year Punjab would have all basic amenities in urban as well as rural areas.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Punjab was also contemplating to award the companies with an attractive incentive for completion of projects within stipulated time. He also asked Principal Secretary Local Bodies to come with a detailed chart in this regard so that needful could be done.
Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary to Deputy CM Mr. P.S. Aujla, CEO Punjab Sewerage Board Mr. D.K. Tiwari, and representatives of Larsen & Toubro Limited, Shapoorji Pallonji Group were also present in the meeting.
