Sukhbir Badal asks Jails department to ensure adequate arrangements for Christian inmates during Lent season

* Also directs to ensure peaceful environment for prayers and fasts

Chandigarh, February 20: President Shiromani Akali Dal and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal today directed the Jails department to ensure requisite arrangements for Christian inmates lodged in various jails so that they could perform peaceful prayers and fast during 40 days holy lent season.

Mr. Badal issued these directions while meeting a delegation of Christian United Federation, which was here to felicitate state government to initiate smooth facilitations for Christian inmates first time in Punjab jails. Delegation led by federation presidentAlbert Dua along with Pastor Peter Bakash, Johnson Gill, Rohil Paul, Baldev Masih, Gurvinder Dosanjh, Vickey Kamal, Vikas Waraich, Keneth and President Pastor Association Ludhiana Pastor Joginder Pappu thanked Deputy CM for allowing Priests to visits jail premises to meet and assist Christian prisoners during lent days.

Deputy Chief Minister also assured the delegation that proper and necessary arrangements as well as environment would be provided to the inmates besides ensuring basic facilities for fast and prayers during this pious season. He said the SAD-BJP coalition was fully committed for the welfare and all round developments of all sections of society.

Meanwhile Member Punjab State Minority Commission Mr. Albert Dua also thanked Punjab Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal for this initiatve so that prisoners could be enlightened with good spirits to tread better life.
