Sukhbir Badal announces schedule for religious pilgrimage via trains

Chandigarh, December 12: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today rolled out a schedule for the religious pilgrimage through trains from various locations of the state to religious sacred places situated across the country.

While finalising the schedule during a high level meeting Deputy Chief Minister vowed that the state government would provide free of cost and comfortable journey to religious places of all faiths. Disclosing the details, S. Badal said the pilgrimages would begin from 1st January, 2016 with first train being flagged off for Nanded Sahib from Amritsar railway station for the pilgrims belonging to Attari and Majitha constituencies. For Talwandi Sabo and Maur constituencies second train would be flagged off from Maur railway station on 4th January.

Similarly for Sri Anandpur Sahib and Ropar constituencies, the train would depart from Sri Anandpur Sahib on 8th January whereas for Jandiala and Khadoor Sahib constituencies, pilgrims would board train from Jandiala on 11th January. Train for Samana and Nabha constituencies would leave from Patiala on 15th January, Train for Dera Baba Nanak and Fatehgarh Churian would depart from Batala on 18th January.

Train for Sri Muktsar Sahib and Jalalabad constituencies would leave from Sri Muktsar Sahib on 22nd January while the train for Kartarpur would leave from Beas station on 25th January. For Bholath constituency, train would leave from Dhilwan station on 25th January.

The Deputy CM further informed that for the pilgrims intending to go to Varanasi would leave Bathinda station on January 18 while for Doaba region, it would depart from Jalandhar station on January 20 and for pilgrims from Malerkotla intending to go to Ajmer Sharif, the train would leave Malerkotla station on January 27.
