* Says Rs. 4000 crore set aside to provide complete sewerage cover in towns
* 4/6 lane road projects to be completed within a year
Faridkot, July 1: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that Rural Punjab is all set to have complete facelift with state’s Rs. 6000 crore comprehensive development blueprint besides Rs. 4000 crore has been set aside to provide complete sewerage system in all towns in the state.
While enthroning Harjit Singh Bholuwala as Chairman District Planning Committee, Mr. Badal said the incumbent SAD-BJP regime was fulfilling all the promises made with the people of Punjab. He said concerted efforts of Punjab government have started to yield fruitful results and State has become power surplus as promised. He said 24 hours cut free power was being provided across the state while the neighbouring states were far behind in this sector.
He also announced that within one year all the cities, towns and major areas of the state would be linked with 4/6 lane road network since the work in this regard was in full pace. He said works of constructing flyovers would also be completed in one year.
Reiterating his commitment to put Punjab on the map of one of the most developed state, Mr. Badal said he had started his political career from Faridkot district and there would be no paucity of funds for the all round development of this royal city. He said Punjab is all set to take another leap by establishing Sewa Kendras covering all towns and villages and the sole motive of this unique idea was to provide all facilities at the doorsteps of citizens.
On being asked about the drug menace in the state, Mr. Badal said the state was taking all steps to eliminate this menace with the cooperation of citizens. He also asked the people of Punjab to come forward against this social evil. When asked about any rift between the coalition partners over this issue, Mr. Badal said there was no such possibility and the alliance was unflinching. He said all the decisions were taken with the due consultation between the both partners. Answering a query regarding the election of President of Faridkot Nagar Council, Mr. Badal said it will be done very shortly.
