Chandigarh, November 22: People’s Party of Punjab Manpreet Singh Badal today lashed out at Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for raising the bogey of Khalistan to cover up utter failure of his government to deliver due to the administrative failure this government suffers from. The only activity in which the rulers are hyper active is making money by creating mafia that controls sand mining, transport, cable system, liquor trade and the like.
“You cannot cover up your own failure and divert the attention of the people from the very issues that have triggered mass upsurge and hatred against the government the like of which has never been witnessed before in Punjab. People have now started thrashing even ministers. The situation has come to such a pass that your own people are now fighting against each other publicly as happened last night at Bathinda where your own assistant media advisor was manhandled by the local Akali MLA and his security staff”, he told Sukhjbir.
Manpreet said the basic issues like adequate compensation to the farmers for the crop damage, arresting culprits responsible for sacrilege and theft of Guru Granth Sahib from Burj Jawahar Singhwala village and registering cases against the police officials by name responsible for firing on people resulting in the death of two persons continued to be unaddressed.
He said the political rhetoric and the slugfest being resorted to was only part of the diversionary tactics being resorted to by Sukhbir but that would not calm down the people as the resentment was deep rooted resulting from utter mismanagement and non-governance.
Manpreet said it was not just ironical but also ridiculous that what Sukhbir said the Delhi was contradicted by his father and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in Patiala indicating utter lack of coordination between the chief minister and the deputy chief minister.
The PPP chief said Sukhbir had further added to the deteriorating situation by challenging the very dignity of the Punjabis saying that he would not allow any voice of dissent to be raised forgetting that it is not a dictatorial set up but it is the constitutional right of the people to voice their grievances within the democratic framework. He should better read history, Manpreet added.
