Starting work on next pay commission, will be implemented by next year: Capt

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday said the government was starting work on the next pay commission and it would be implemented by next year.

It was a long-pending demand of the employees.

Speaking in the Budget session of the Punjab Assembly, Amarinder said free power to farmers would continue and that the government would bring a white paper on the power situation in the state.

He said the government had done well on various fronts in the past three years.

“We don’t have even a drop of water to give to any state. We can die but won’t give a drop of water to any other state,” he said.

The CM said to deal with drug menace in the state is their priority and they had registered 34,000 cases in the past three years and arrested 43,000 people. He said 3.7 lakh addicts had been treated and 974 kg of heroin confiscated.

The CM said the government would bring in a legislation on the State Drug Control in the Assembly.

He said they had provided employment to 3.96 lakh youth in the private sector in the past three years.
