BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is currently haemodynamically stable and received Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy on Monday night after he was admitted to the Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital in Kolkata, the hospital has said in a statement.
Haemodynamic stablility refers to blood flow in a person. A hemodynamically stable patient has stable blood pressure and heart rate.
The former India captain, who is double vaccinated, tested positive for coronavirus on Monday and was taken to the hospital in South Kolkata as a precautionary measure after his RT-PCR test returned positive, the Press Trust of India reported.
The 49-year-old was admitted to a hospital twice earlier this year and underwent emergency angioplasty after having cardiac issues. His elder brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for COVID early this year.
“A medical board comprising Dr Saroj Mondal, Dr Saptarshi Basu and Dr Soutik Panda, in consultation with Dr Devi Shetty and Dr Aftab Khan, is keeping a close watch on his health status,” the hospital said in a press release on Tuesday.
It is learnt that Ganguly will undergo genome sequencing to see if the virus strain is the Omicron or Delta variant.
