Sony has already begun rolling Google Android 7.0 Nougat on its Xperia X and Xperia XZ, but the company aims to be the first manufacturers to release the next version of Nougat on its smartphones.
Sony’s dev team said that “this is our (the Concept teams) number 1 priority” and that “if you spot any other vendor (excluding Google) releasing this faster than us, prepare your rotten tomatoes!”
The Xperia Concept developer team currently has the source code and is waiting for the application suite (GMS apps) and the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) from Google, according to Xperiablog.net
Considering previous Android roll outs, Google always release Android software updates to its own devices—Nexus, and now the newly launched Pixel phones. According to the reports, Google has already kicked off the rollout of Android 7.1.1 Nougat updates for a couple of Nexus and Pixel phones.
As a result, the Japanese company Sony can not be the first to bring the Android update to its devices.
