Small amount of love is sufficient to bring joy for elderly-Dr.Baljit Kaur

Faridkot/Chandigarh, October 3, 2023: Even a small amount of affection is enough to make the elderly happy as the time spent by children and youth with the elderly in their last leg of journey life is precious asset for the old people.

This was stated today by Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development of Punjab Dr. Baljit Kaur, during the launch of State Level Program ‘Sade Buzurg, Sada Maan’, which is started from Faridkot.

Jaito MLA Amolak Singh, Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Anil Kumar Goyal, MLA Faridkot Gurditt Sekhon’s wife Beant Kaur, MLA’s parents, Angrez Singh and Baljit Kaur were among others present during the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Baljit Kaur stressed upon the fact that younger generation should take a break from mobile phones and the internet and instead spend some time conversing with the elderly.

She said that the elderly are hoping to get some time from us after suffering all their lives.

Terming Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann as visionary who paid attention towards the well-being of the senior citizens’, she noted that the government is working diligently to provide essential services to all residents aged 60 and above.

Dr. Baljit Kaur announced that these health camps would not be limited to Faridkot district only but would be organised in other districts of state as well. The minister added that this is being done to ensure that these services are accessible to all elderly individuals across the state.

Health check-ups for the elderly were also organized during this occasion and apart from free medicines, eye-check-up-camp, free surgeries were also performed.

Senior citizen cards were issued during the camp. On this occasion, former Member of Parliament Prof. Sadhu Singh and other distinguished individuals above the age of 60 were also honoured.
