Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
CHANDIGARH, November 25: Congress leader and former Khadoor Sahab MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki today challenged the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to debate with him to decide as who was anti-national and the enemy of Punjab. “And let you choose the time and the place”, he told Sukhbir.
In a statement issued here today, Sikki said he was pained at the malicious and slanderous campaign launched by Sukhbir against him and his party during last two weeks over his participation in the Sarbat Khalsa. “Instead of holding a press conference in Delhi, it would be better for both of us to debate the issue directly between two of us”, he dared Sukhbir.
Reiterating that he had attended the Sarbat Khalsa, which was a religious congregation, as a true Sikh and as a true Congressman, for which he did not need anybody’s permission. “I went there and addressed the congregation and put forth the point of view of my party and left”, he clarified, while adding, “I did not do it stealthily because I had nothing to hide or feel guilty about”.
The Congress leader said, he had been accused of being an anti-national by Sukhbir. “I request him to explain what he really means by being an anti national”, he urged the Deputy Chief Minister, while adding, “unlike your father, Parkash Singh Badal, I have never torn away the pages of the constitution and set them on fire and never went to the United Nations demanding Khalistan”.
Asking Sukhbir that before levelling such baseless allegations against others, he must look within and around, adding, “those living in glass houses do not throw stones”.
“No matter how patriotic and nationalistic you may claim yourself to be but the matter of the fact remains that whole of Punjab believes you to be, and rightly so, the enemy number one of Punjab and Punjabis”, he told Sukhbir, while explaining, “for the generation you destroyed with drugs, for the plight of farmers that has led to thousands of them committing suicide, the closure of industry, the grabbing of poor man’s business like transport, cable and sand mining and so on”.
