Sikh Coalition urges US to help ensure justice to community

New York, Sikh Coalition, a city-based non-profit community organisation, has urged US President Barack Obama to help in seeking justice for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in northern india in the aftermath of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi assassination.
In a letter, in partnership with Ensaaf and Human Rights Watch organisations, the coalition also requested US authorities to take up the issue at bilateral parleys with india. The coalition also urged the Indian-Americans, particularly the Sikh community, to put pressure on their respective members of Congress and Senate in highlighting the issue.
