Chandigarh, March 18
Former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia today came down heavily on Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife for “leaking false details of the STF report”.
He claimed that his estranged cousin, ADGP Harpreet Singh Sidhu, and the Sidhus colluded on the matter. “It is not the STF report, but the Sidhu team’s false report,” he said.
ADGP Sidhu is the head of the STF on drugs and has authored the report that was submitted before a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. When contacted, the ADGP said Majithia was related to his cousins, but he had no blood relation with the Akali leader. “Even with those cousins, I have had no contact for 14 years,” he said.
Majithia said the Sidhu couple had committed contempt by revealing the contents of a sealed report, which could have been seen only by the Division Bench. “I would like to ask the Sidhu team whether they obtained the sealed report before it was submitted or it was leaked after its submission in the court. It is possible that a cooked-up and fabricated report was prepared by the trio, based on unsubstantiated allegations already rejected by various courts, was released,” he claimed.
Refuting the allegations, the ADGP said he had acted according to the law. On the charge of his collusion with Sidhu, he said there was no truth in this and he could not react to any political statements.
