Chandigarh, Strong and credible police was a necessity to safeguard public interest and for the common good of the people.
Expressing these views after releasing the first ever Coffee Table Book of Chandigarh Police here today, the Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil, said that besides the book will focus on the history of Chandigarh Police it would also educate the people regarding the working and achievements of the city police.
Congratulating IGP, Mr. Rajinder Upadhyaya and his team for preparing Coffee Table book in a attractive manner, Mr. Patil appreciated the role of Chandigarh Police for undertaking an ambitious modernization and up gradation in order to have the cutting edge technology for combating crime and criminals. He said that this initiative would also help in raising the morale of the force and improving the image of Chandigarh police in the society.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Patil said the role of Senior Citizens Association is highly appreciable for achieving their goals in right manner. He said the need of the hour was to pay more attention towards the old peoples. For this he said government and police are doing their duty but Senior Citizens Association should also educate and motivate younger generation to look after their old parents. They need to spend time with them so that they should not feel lonely.
Mr. Patil also lauded the role of artists of Chandigarh Traffic Police and women of Infosys for performing two Short Skits one on traffic rules and violations and the other one on drugs and atrocities on women. He said that both the plays were useful in educating the general public to check the social evils.
Earlier, Mr. Rajinder Upadhyaya IGP, Chandigarh, in his welcome address, highlighted the achievements and ongoing projects initiated by Chandigarh police. He said Chandigarh Police resolves to give people an effective, responsive and law abiding enforcement machinery. He said in order to achieve the ultimate goal of our mission, Chandigarh police equipped with latest technology. Besides Coffee Table Book, other publications of Chandigarh Police which were released on the occasion includes, Community Policing Initiatives of Chandigarh Police, A Booklet on “Know Your Case “scheme of Chandigarh Police and Police Control Room (Feedback Mechanism).
