Amritsar, July 17
The SGPC will host the first World Punjabi Language Convention at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College in Fatehgarh Sahib on October 24. SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said the SGPC felt it was imperative to initiate all the measures for the development of Punjabi language and so they decided to hold the convention.
He said Sikh intellectuals from Pakistan, Canada, America, England, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia would take part in the convention. He said six sessions would be held during the convention, adding that they would implement the recommendations that would be made by Gurmukhi experts at the event. He said they had also constituted a committee comprising Sikh intellectuals and SGPC officials to chalk out the plan for organising the mega event.
