SGPC adopts Rs 993 crore budget for current fiscal

Amritsar, The executive committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee today adopted its Rs. 993. 24 crore budget for 2016-16 which is higher by Rs 88 crore as compared to that of the last year. Its President Avtar singh Presided.

The budget estimates were present by its general Secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur. As the general house is defunt, it is the executive that has been authorised by the Supreme Court to pass the budget.

The following are the main allocations:

-General Board fund Rs 59 crore

-Trust funds Rs 43,13,28,600

-Education Rs 31 crore

-Printing Rs 7.05 crore

-Dharam parchar Committee Rs. 67 crore

-Gurdwaras under Section 85 603 crore

-Educational institutions Rs 182 crore

Makkar said the SGPC would continue to provide help to the cancer patients and poor students as earlier. He said 13 new schools were being set up.

Classes would start from the current session in Bhagta Bhai Ka, Jalalabad and Sri Hargobindpur schools which have been newly constructed.

Rs 5 crore have been earmarked for Miri Piri Medical College, Shahbad Markanda in Haryana, Rs 8 crore for the expansion of Guru Granth Sahib University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 2 crore for Guru Granth Sahib Mission, Shahpur (Haryana) and Rs 3 crore for the patients of Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital.

Makkar disclosed the SGPC had disbursed Rs. 13.43 crore to 6633 cancer patients from 2011 to 2014-15. He said Rs 3 crore had been allocated for the promotion of sports while Rs 1.30 had been allocated to provide help to bright students from weaker sections. The Amritdhari students were being provided stipends for which whwich Rs 2 crore had been earmarked.

Other heads include Dharmi Faujis Rs 2.25 crore and Rs 50 lakh as fee to follow the cases of November 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom.

Sikh students studying in Cambridge would be provided a total of Rs 1 crore.

-Video van and projector Rs 93 lakh

-Sikh Mission USA Rs 2 crore

-Haryana Sikh Mission Rs 2 crore, Rajasthan Rs 20 lakh and Rs 1.85 crore for UP, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh missions.
