Srinagar: Police arrested several persons for allegedly indulging in stone-pelting and arson after three terrorists were gunned down in an encounter at Srinagar’s Nowgam area in Jammu and Kashmir.
On Wednesday, three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, who were allegedly involved in the killing of Khanmoh’s Sarpanch, were killed in an encounter that broke out in Srinagar’s Nowgam area. The police asked citizens to stay away from encounter sites to ensure their safety. “On 16-03-2022 at Shankarpora Nowgam Srinagar, 03 militants were killed. Accordingly, signboards were also placed around the site of encounter, while it was being sanitized, to dissuade citizens from approaching the site prior to sanitization with regard to any left-over explosive from the militants,” Srinagar police said in a statement on Thursday. The police said that a large unruly mob assembled from adjacent areas of Shankerpora Wanabal carrying lathies and stones in their hands and pelted stones. The police also used smoke shells to disperse the crowd.

Citizens are advised to stay away from encounter sites, as this has potential hazards,” the police said in a tweet.
