Serena Williams, Chasing Grand Slam History, Showcases Singing Skills Ahead of US Open

Serena Williams’ tennis skills, as the world number one, are beyond doubt but the 33-year-old American once again highlighted a facet that not many fans around the world maybe aware of – that of a karaoke star.
In New York for the US Open which starts from Monday, Serena looking resplendent in a white shirt and long black skirt, crooned a Dysney classic: “Under the Sea” from the Little Mermaid. Last year, she sang “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”.
Serena was admittedly a lot more nervous about her choice of song than she is before match time, where she has been decimating opponents with an alarming regularity.
“I’m going to make a game time decision,” she told Associated Press. “I always get so nervous every year like, ‘I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to do.’”
Serena, who captured her first Grand Slam title at the 1999 US Open at age 17, is a huge favorite to win the US Open as she tries to complete the first calendar-year Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988 by winning her 22nd career major title in the event that starts Monday on the New York hardcourts.
Serena had recently won the Wimbledon, defeating Maria Sharapova in a one-sided semifinal.
