Jyotiraditya Scindia is among Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Scindia, a former Congress leader who joined BJP on Wednesday, is the party’s candidate from Madhya Pradesh.
Besides Scindia, there is another royal on the BJP list—the party is fielding Leishemba Sanajaoba, the Maharaja of Manipur.
Udayanraje Bhonsle, the thirteenth descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji, is a party candidate from Maharashtra.
Biswajit Daimary from Bodoland People’s from and Ramadas Athwale from the Republican Party of India (A) will also be fielded by the NDA.
The BJP released its first list of candidates for Rajya Sabha elections on Wednesday.
Scinida quit the Congress on Tuesday. He is an influential leader of Madhya Pradesh where 22 Congress MLAs, most of whom loyal to him, have resigned from the assembly in a bid to topple the Kamal Nath-led government
Elections for 55 of Rajya Sabha’s seats will be held on March 26. As is the usual practice, votes will be counted on the same day.
