Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Phagwara, Addressing mammoth gathering in a Youth Festival “Youth Vive” at Lovely Professional University here today, the Punjab Governor, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil said that in this mega event, participation of various universities and Institutions across the country would provide a platform to youth to exchange their innovative creations in cutting edge technology along with rich cultural values of our country.
Lauding the role of the Lovely Professional University for organizing this event, Mr. Patil said that in the present day world, Science & Technology, new knowledge, transport and communication facilities are bound to play a very important role and it should be developed in a cooperative and with joint efforts. He said more technology and new scientific knowledge should be generated and needed to be flow freely. He said that students should also be allowed to move freely in National Laboratories to exchange and acquire knowledge and for this Universities can play positive role. He said Oceans are equal to two third of the globe and they need to be explored. He said the resources and wealth they have under the sea beds, in the columns of water of them were very rich and should be used.
Mr. Patil further said that the space was bigger than the oceans. It has many sources of wealth and energy and they should also be explored and used. He said Space, oceans, lands, has enough to meet our needs, and demands. Our needs and demands can be met by paying more attention to Science & Technology, natural and non-conventional sources of energy, developing wider, perspective and long term vision, and plans, which also can be done in a better manner by bringing about cooperation between the countries. He said if world has to unite then we have to extend cooperation and our vision has to be widened. He said to enlighten people more information has to be exchanged and spread. He said in order to understand our state, our country we have to understand the world.
Appreciating the initiative of the Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Mr. Patil said that such youth festivals would certainly generate more awareness among the students community. He said that culture is our living tradition and it needs to be preserved, propagated and enriched. He said india occupies an important place on the cultural map of the world and we can be justly proud of our rich and varied culture. We are one of the oldest and continuous civilizations of the world because of our inherent strengths and resilience as well as our ability to incorporate change and cope with ideas without losing our basic culture and rich values. He said that we have inherited a value able range of art, literature, monuments, customs and traditions that enrich our lives so each one of us must honor the culture legacy left to us by our forefathers.
Later on in one to one question or session with students and scientists, Mr. Patil replies to various questions on Science and Technology, Research and Development and on spirituality. Replying one of the questions on spirituality asked by the student, Mr. Patil said spirituality is a super science. He said in educational institution we all the time talks about education, sports and cultural activities but we do not touch spirituality. He said money and position would not give you happiness. He said it was the duty of the educational institutions to inculcate the spirit of spirituality amongst the students.
Appreciating the role of Lovely Professional University in imparting quality education to the students, Mr. Patil said in india we have around 900 government and private universities and the LPU was one of the best University amongst the private university. He said that this University was even doing better than some of the Government University and the credit goes to the Chancellor of this University and his team. He said that he had no doubt that in future LPU would become one of the best Universities in the world.
Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, Mrs Rahsmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Ramesh Mittal (Chairman), Mr. Naresh Mittal (Vice Chairman) and Dr. Rameshwar Kanwar (Vice Chancellor).
