New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Friday extended the bail period of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa till May 12 in the disproportionate asset case.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu also extended the time for disposal of her appeal in Karnataka High Court till then.
In case, the High Court judgement was delayed her bail period would stand extended till then.
Jayalalithaa has been sentenced to four-year jail term by a trial court for possession of Rs 66 crore worth of undeclared assets.
The trial court had also slapped a fine of Rs 100 crore going by the present market value of her assets.
She has challenged her convention and sentence in the HC.
