Chandigarh, December 12: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today issued instructions regarding distribution of old age pension.
Divulging details, S. Badal said that the onus of distributing pension, enhanced to Rs. 500 by the state cabinet recently, would be on the sarpanches of the villages. He also said that the pension if January, 2016 would be payable in February, 2016. Giving more details, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the sarpanches would get the pension by 10th of every month which had to be disbursed amongst the beneficiaries by 15th.
He also elaborated that the DC’s of the concerned districts would co-ordinate with the sarpanches of the villages falling under their districts so as to ensure that the such beneficial schemes of the state government are properly implemented.
On this occasion Finance Minister, Punjab, Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Chief Secretary Punjab Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Mr. P.S. Aujla, Special Principal Secretaries to the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu and Mr. Rahul Tewari were also present.
