Sania Mirza to support World Wildlife Fund India campaign

Hyderabad: Tennis player Sania Mirza on Thursday said that she has joined hands with nature conservation body World Wildlife Fund (WWF) India, to pledge her support to Earth Hour 2015, which is WWF’s global campaign to raise awareness and inspire individual action on climate change.

Mirza spoke about her association with the cause as well as invited citizens of the city to come forward and show their support for the campaign.

This year, the theme of ‘Earth Hour’ is “India Unplugged”, which not only calls out to people to “switch off” power, but also encourages citizens across the country to explore and adopt cleaner as well as more sustainable lifestyle by embracing renewable energy solutions.

“The global crisis of climate change can be addressed only through collective action and adoption of a sustainable way of life,” Mirza said.

“Earth Hour provides the perfect platform to mobilise people empowering them to contribute to the planet in their individual capacity. I am extremely proud to be associated with this campaign and would encourage others to extend their support towards Earth Hour,” she said.
