Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, November 14 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said it was astonishing that a leisure and pleasure seeker like Capt Amarinder Singh, who was more at home in the hills or London, was talking about the accessibility of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
In a statement here, senior leaders including Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Balwinder Singh Bhundur said Amarinder should explain where he had been during the last four years. “Is it not true that the number of days you spent in Punjab in the last four years can be counted on the finger tips? Recently you took off for nearly one month to London to attend a marriage ceremony. In summer you prefer to remain ensconced in the hills of Himachal for months together. You are rarely ever seen even at your ancestral residence in Patiala. You have even forsaken your constituents at Amritsar. All this proves that you remain in a permanent state of hibernation and surface only during periods of elections and lobbying for the prize posts or at present times when you smell a chance to create mischief”.
Asking Amarinder to answer questions that the people wanted to know rather than trying to side track the mounting evidence that he was trying to play with fire, the SAD leaders asked him to explain why his intimate team had helped organise the so called Sarbat Khalsa on November 10. “Do you deny that Ramanjit Sikki, Lally Majithia and Harminder Gill are not part of your core team? How do you explain their actions? Is it fine in your method of doing politics to team up with extremist and separatist elements for petty political gains?
Mr Dhindsa and Mr Bhundur said this was not the first time that Amarinder had openly sided with separatists. He said earlier images of the Amritsar mp’s meeting with Khalistani leaders at the Dixcy gurdwara in Canada had been seen by everyone. “You have constantly curried favour with extremist elements to gain an upper hand over the SAD. However the people of the State have foiled your designs and will do so again. You better worry about yourself and how you will answer the people of Punjab and the Congress high command as to why you tried to foment trouble in Punjab by encouraging extremist elements rather than worrying about the activities of others, especially Mr Parkash Singh Badal who has devoted his entire life to the people”, they added.
