Chandigarh, Shiromani Akali Dal today launched a frontal attack on Partap Singh Bajwa led Congress party for indirectly weakening the SAD-BJP continued offensive against Narcotics Mafia in the state by deliberately dragging in names of Akali Dal leadership in it.
In a joint statement issued here today, Mr Avtar Singh Brar, General Secretary, Shiromani Akali Dal and former senior Congress leader, Ex Deputy Speaker Prof Darbari Lal today said that Partap Singh Bajwa whose family thrived on Narcotics trade throughout their life, was deliberately confusing this issue to scuttle the campaign launched by SAD-BJP government on nefarious drug trade.
They said that when Mr Bikram Singh Majithia hailing from reputed Majithia clan has himself asked for inquiry of highest order by any independent agency, the harping of Majithia name by Bajwa suggests his inherent linkage with his old paymasters. They said that even former CM and Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Capt Amarinder Singh in his communication to Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi had raised question mark on the character and integrity of Mr Partap Singh Bajwa due to his alleged connivance with drug mafia and people with terror links.
They said that deliberate silence of Congress party on this issue of alleged links of Mr Bajwa with drug trade and not a single rebuttal by “10 Janpath” has put a stamp of authenticity on the allegations levelled by Capt Amarinder Singh on Partap Singh Bajwa.
Daring Bajwa to come clean on his old connections and intimacy with drug lord Bhola, the Akali leaders said that when three separate FIR’s were registered in Rampura Phul Police Station against drug lord Bhola by the then SAD-BJP government in 2001, it was Bajwa who got him exonerated immediately after formation of Congress government in year 2002. They said that Bhola is now parroting the names of Akali leadership after his fresh arrest on the command of his old boss Partap Singh Bajwa for repaying his old debt.
The leaders said that Congress leadership need to rewind their memory tape when the pictures swollen limbs of Partap’s brother Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa were published in National News Magazine “Frontline” when he was questioned for conspiring to attack the then PCC President and former Chief Minister Punjab Mr Beant Singh.
They said that Partap Singh Bajwa had to submit potency certificate to the investigating agencies when he was charged of rape during his Gujarat sojourns by his own Congress government. They said that real character of Bajwa family was exposed by veteran Congress leader, freedom fighter and Member of Parliament Chaudhary Sundar Singh at the obituary and Bhog ceremony of Partap’s father Satnam Singh Bajwa. They said that Chaudhary Sundar Singh, when told to pay tributes to Satnam Singh Bajwa commented on the stage, “I am pained that a renowned narcotic drug lord who died in a gang war is being described as a martyr by other speakers. His death is a good riddance for the Society as he has ruined the lives and families of thousands of innocent youth of Punjab by making them addicted to drugs.”
They said that using criminal elements to suppress his party men and than using these elements to attack his political opponents is the old functioning style of Bajwa as it has been recently exposed in the arrest of Pannu, his close aide, in Faridkot Gun House robbery case. They said that Bajwa can go to the extent of endangering the life of his mentor and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi as he engineered Pannu’s entry on to Rahul Gandhi’s stage by issuing him a fake identity card. They said that Bajwa, who is not loyal to his own masters, cannot be expected to be loyal to the State and the Country.
The leaders said that SAD-BJP leadership never wanted to indulge in mudslinging or name calling as party under the visionary leadership of Mr Parkash Singh Badal and Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal believed in development agenda to take Punjab on the rapid path of growth and prosperity.
They said that the resolve of Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal in the Golden Temple to make state drug free has perhaps hit the business interests of certain Congress leaders led by Partap Singh Bajwa who were now trying to derail this war by unsuccessfully involving SAD leadership in it.
The Akali leaders warned Mr Bajwa that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others. They said that Bajwa’s repeated outbursts are exposing his real face to the public and SAD-BJP government would not allow his game to derail the state’s war against drug trade.
