SAD-BJP to take fight for justice for Dussehra Khooni Saaka to people

Chandigarh October 22 – The Shiromani Akali Dal- Bhartiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) coordination panel today decided to take up the fight for justice in the Amritsar Dussehra Khooni Saaka case as per the decision of the poor affected people who were being repressed and prosecuted by the heartless Congress government even as the guilty Sidhu couple and the organizers of the function roamed scot free.

Addressing a joint press conference here after a meeting of the Coordination Committee, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and State BJP president Shwet Malik condemned the registration of cases under section 307 which was liable for life imprisonment punishment against 50 poor persons demanding justice in the case. They said in direct contrast a non-consequential case under section 304- A had been registered against four unidentified persons with regard to the Dusshera tragedy. “This itself proves that the Congress government has launched a cover up exercise to save the Sidhu couple of Navjot Sidhu and his wife Mrs Navjot Kaur Sidhu who are responsible for abetting the murder of 61 persons in the Dussehra Khooni Saka”, he added.

SAD president Sukhbir Badal also took serious note of the Congress leaders indulging in antics like candle light march today. He said it was condemnable that the perpetrators of the ghastly tragedy were indulging in a candle light march and that this action was akin to sprinkling salt on the wounds of the man made massacre victims. “This proves that justice can never be served in this case under Congress watch. We demand a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court to ensure justice to the poor victims. “This has been done in earlier instances and Pradesh Congress president Sunil Jakhar should not try to mislead people by stating the contrary”.

The SAD president also took strong exception of chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s actions ever since the news of the tragedy broke out. He said the Union minister of state for railways and the Punjab Governor reached the tragedy site within hours but the CM took 18 hours to reach Amritsar. He said even afterwards instead of remaining in the State to ensure justice to the victims and find those still missing Capt Amarinder had decided to proceed on a holiday to Turkey. “The CM is now expected to be back on November 1”, he said adding officers were not likely to take any action in the matter with the CM himself missing from action.

Both Mr Sukhbir Badal and Mr Shwet Malik also condemned the statement of dissident AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira for terming the gruesome tragedy as a ‘chhota hadsaa’. They said it was clear that Khaira was part of the Congress cover up exercise and had made this extremely insensitive and heartless statement to save his friend Navjot Sidhu.

It was also announced that a SAD-BJP delegation would meet Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore tomorrow and demand justice for the poor victims including compensation of Rs one crore for the victims, Rs 50 lakh for the injured and a government job for each of the victim families. The Coordination panel said it seemed that the victim families were being coerced into accepting compensation by the Sidhu couple and that this should not come in the way of announcement of enhanced compensation to them.

Earlier at a SAD-BJP Coordination Committee meeting demanded the immediate sack of Local Bodies minister Navjot Sidhu and registration of a case against him for abetting murder besides the same against his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu and the function organizers. It was brought out that Navjot Sidhu was the real chief guest of the function and that he had formed the Dussehra Committee (East) which had organized the function and that posters were also released in his name.
