SAD, BJP men canvass against each other

Malout (Muktsar), Leaders of both SAD and the BJP have started door-to-door campaign in the town seeking support against each other.From Ward No. 15, Akali leader Rajpal and BJP’s Gopi Ram have started canvassing against each other even though they are yet to be allottted the ticket.They had last time contested against each other from Ward No. 13. In the previous elections, the BJP had got just six of the total 21 wards in Malout under the seat-sharing formula. Following delimitation, the number of wards has increased to 27.Rakesh Dhingra, district president of the BJP, said: “The coordination committee will discuss issues related to the MC elections and take a decision on seat-sharing and the candidates.He said: “As per the seat-sharing arrangement, no seat of president comes to the BJP in Muktsar district which has three municipal towns of Malout, Muktsar and Gidderbaha. In these towns, we get the post of vice-president of municipal council.”
