* Anandpur Sahib to get status of Sri Anandpur Sahib within a week
* Job approvals to 125 sportspersons in upcoming cabinet
*State constitutes Punjab Institute of Sports for 11 sports streams
Rupnagar, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that inauguration ceremony of 6th World Cup Kabaddi would be held at Rupnagar. Mr. Badal also asserted that religious and historic town Anandpur Sahib would get the status of Sri Anandpur Sahib within a week.
Mr. Badal approved the demand put forth by Punjab Education Minister Mr. Daljeet Singh Cheema for status of Sri Anandpur Sahib to birth place of Khalsa Panth. He said directions would be issued to all authorities concerned and notification in this regard to be issued within a week. He said in view of the historical background of Roopnagar the state has decided to inaugurate the world kabaddi cup from this city.
While addressing mammoth gathering at local Nehru Stadium after inaugurating third day matches of 5th World Cup Kabaddi, Mr. Badal said Kabaddi has coined another separate identity for Punjab as this rustic sport has extended its wings over all pacific.
Reiterating his resolve to bring Kabaddi to higher scales besides witnessing its inclusion in Commonwealth, Asian and Olympics, Mr. Badal he has spoken to Canadian MPs for its inclusion in Commonwealth games. He said in view of the historical background of Rupnagar the state has decided to inaugurate 6th world kabaddi cup from this city.
Talking about recent establishment of state-of-the-art Punjab Institute of Sports, Mr. Badal informed the gathering that it would have 11 sports directorates for different sports disciplines. He said each stream would have a world renowned player as its Director to cater the needs of players besides uplifting the standards of that game. He said all the spending would be made by Punjab Government to produce quality players.
Mr. Badal also informed 125 medal winners of Olympics, Commonwealth and Asian games would get their job approvals in ensuing cabinet meet on December 16. He said Punjab has registered revolutionary initiatives in education, sports, infrastructure, power etc. He said now Punjab has become a power surplus state and all set to lay 4/6 lane road network at the cost of Rs. 11000 crore. Deputy CM said construction of Rupnagar-Phagwara, Chandigarh-Ludhiana, Chandigarh-Bathinda, Amritsar-Ganganagar 6 lane highways would be completed in coming two years.
Mr. Badal also announced that Punjab villages would soon have Sewa Kendras, which would provide all 249 citizen centric services to the natives of 3-4 villages having joint population of 5000 under one roof. The Deputy CM also felicitated Dr. Cheema for taking reforms in education department along development of Roopnagar.
Mr. Badal also had interaction with the players of Pakistan and Denmark teams. He also enjoyed the kabbadi match played between Pakistan and Mexican women teams.
On the occasion Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Chaudhary Nand Lal and Mr. Inderbir Singh Bolaria, MLA Mr. Pargat Singh, former minister Bibi Satwant Kaur Sandhu, former MLA Jathedar Ujagar Singh Wadali, PRTC Chairman Mr. Avtar Singh Brar were also present.
