Councillor Rob Ford has been admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital to begin chemotherapy after doctors discovered a tumour on his bladder.
According to his office, it is still not clear if the tumour is impacting his organs. Ford’s Chief of Staff Dan Jacobs said in an email to CP24.com that doctors are still not sure whether Ford has a single tumour or a cluster of small tumours located close to one another.
Last week, Ford told reporters outside the hospital that he was “99 per cent sure” the tumour found on his bladder was malignant. He said his aim was to complete two rounds of chemotherapy in order to undergo an operation to remove the tumour by December.
Last week, Ford said the discovery of the new tumour caught him completely off guard and has been harder to cope with than his last bout with a lipsosarcoma tumour.
That tumour, found in Ford’s abdomen last fall was removed in May after a day-long surgery.
“Councillor Ford wishes to assure the people of Toronto that he will continue to provide assistance however possible,” his office said in a news release to the public.
