Reveal name of whistleblower in CBI chief case : SC tells Bhushan

New Delhi,  The Supreme Court on Monday asked lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan to reveal the source of his information on the guest list at CBI chief Ranjit Sinha’s residence.

The apex court asked Bhushan to give the name of the whistleblower in a sealed envelope.

The court passed this directive while examining whether Central Bureau of Investigation director Ranjit Sinha tried to compromised investigations into the 2G and coal scams by entertaining accused at his official residence in New Delhi.

Sinha has been appealing to the court to make Bhushan reveal the source of the guest list and the CBI’s notings in the case. Sinha claimed that 90% of the entries in the guest list submitted by Bhushan were forged.

Last week Bhushan had submitted the guest list to the court in a sealed envelope without revealing where he got them from.

Sinha in his affidavits rejected the claims made by Bhushan’s NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation. He accused the NGO of giving false evidence and making false allegations on oath. He also said that the Supreme Court should direct the registration of a case against CPIL for giving false evidence.

Sinha also said that communication between the CBI director and director of prosecution is privileged and cannot be used without the consent of the CBI director or director of prosecution.
