Jalandhar, April 7
AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira has demanded the removal of DGP Suresh Arora and DGP Intelligence Dinkar Gupta based on the allegations made against them by DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyay.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Khaira, while seeking a probe against the two, demanded that a High Court-monitored CBI inquiry should look into the allegations levelled against the two senior police officers by another decorated IPS officer.
While Chattopadhyay has named the said officials in an application filed by him during the course of investigations by an SIT headed by him in a drug case against an SSP, he has gone on to state that the investigations were leading him to top cops of the state.
Alleging that the drugs and firearms case against dismissed ASI Inderjit Singh was being hushed up since it was leading to big names, Khaira said, “High Court-monitored CBI inquiry should look into the allegations made against both the DGPs by DGP Chattopadhyay. The CM should remove DGP Suresh Arora and DGP Intelligence from their posts.”
Khaira said, “The allegations by Siddharth Chattopadhyay that Suresh Arora and Dinkar Gupta are shielding officers involved in drug trafficking are extremely shocking, alarming and devastating. The allegations come from an officer who has been hand-picked by the High Court to probe drug-related involvement of police officers.”
Khaira said it was perplexing that a huge drug case against ASI Inderjit Singh was hushed up at the ASI level without probing the involvement of other parties. He said, “Is it possible that an ASI of Punjab Police was the kingpin of such a massive drug trafficking case running into crores?”
Khaira claimed that STF chief Harpreet Sidhu had named an SSP as part of the Inderjit Singh chain but the investigations were nipped in the bud and he continued to be the SSP.
