Jalandhar, May 29: Coming down heavily on the non-governance and mismanagement by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and tweaking every policy to tailor the family business, People’s party of Punjab chief Manpreet Singh Badal today asserted that a rehriwala could run the government better.
Addressing a news conference here, Manpreet called upon the Bharatiya Janata Party to come out of the alliance with the Akali Dal as other parties including his own could provide better alternative to it.
In a way, with this offer, Manpreet has initiated dialogue with the BJP which is having love-hate relationship with the Akali Dal.
The PPP chief reminded Badal and the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal of their promise that truck-loads of money would come to Punjab once the BJP government came into power at the centre. However, the centre had now taken the stand as articulated in the 14th Finance Commission recommendation that the state was not entitled to any special assistance. Strangely, both father and son had maintained enigmatic silence on this issue.
He said while Punjab was going deeper and deeper in crisis of every kind, the business of the Badal family was expanding in the same proportion.
