Ravindra Jadeja heaped praises on Tilak Varma as he took to Instagram to share a photo with the budding cricketer. Varma was Mumbai Indians’ rare shining light in what was an absolutely disastrous season for the five-time champions.
Jadeja is also on the verge of a comeback as he has been nursing an injury and is currently involved in the domestic season in a bid to work on his fitness.

Tilak Varma started with a bang in his inaugural IPL as the southpaw smashed 397 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 131. He bailed the IPL franchise on numerous occasions as he emerged on the big stage with some much-needed confidence. The 20-year-old eventually was selected for the India A side and played against Bangladesh last year.
Although it’s too early to predict situations as of now, experts believe if Varma manages to better his performance in the next edition of the IPL, he could certainly enter the selection fray for the next ICC World Cup. However, many also consider that Varma might have to wait a bit longer before donning that coveted blue jersey as a number of young prodigies are in line to make their debut in the national team.
Ravindra Jadeja took to Instagram to share his fondness for Tilak Varma. He captioned it: “Chilling with future of India.”
Jadeja hasn’t been involved in international cricket due to a long injury haul. His absence in the T20 World Cup proved to be a costly affair for the men in blues as they were humiliated by England in the semifinal. They thrashed India with a 10-wicket victory and went on to lift the T20 World Cup title eventually by getting the better of Pakistan in the final.
Jadeja could make his return in the first test against Australia which is set to start in Nagpur on 9th February. India should field two spinners with the other one being Ravichandran Ashwin. Jadeja recently picked up seven wickets while captaining Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy and the 34-year-old could be India’s trumpcard in the upcoming home series against the Aussies.
