Mumbai, Former Indian cricketer and commentator Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the director of the Indian cricket team in the upcoming five-match-ODI series against England, scheduled to begin on August 25. The first ODI will be played in Bristol.
Sanjay Bangar and former India fast bowler B Arun have been appointed assistant coaches and under fire India head coach Duncan Fletcher has been retained.
Meanwhile, bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding coach Trevor Penney have been given a ‘break’. R Sridhar will join the support team as the fielding coach for the one day series.
Shastri will oversee and guide Team India during One-Day International matches against England and he will be the overall in-charge of cricket affairs.
England handed India a 3-1 beating in the test series.
