It is well known that Kajol and Rani Mukerji come from the same family. The leading ladies are cousin sisters, however, they, self-admittedly, do not share a typical sister bond with each other.
The actresses recently appeared together at a chat show and spoke candidly about their family dynamics.
Rani Mukerji and Kajol discuss their family dynamics
In a recent chat show, cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji shed light on why they were talking to each other less in the 2000s. The actresses even shared screenspace in movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and select others. Recalling their estranged dynamics Kajol asserted, “Nothing really like that. It was just an organic distance. Where work is concerned it’s more that both of us liked where we were.”

She asserted that she was closer to Tanisha, who is Kajol’s younger sister. The Bunty Aur Babli actress said, “Because I have known her as a kid and she was Kajol didi for me and it was a bit stranger. I guess when you grow apart you really don’t know the reason why because you don’t meet that often because Kajol didi used to stay in town and we were in Juhu. Me and Tanisha were much closer and we are still. But Kajol didi was always closer to the boys of the family. So, it was a bit strange.”

She shared that it was after both of them lost their fathers that they came together stronger than before. She recalled. “As families when you lose your loved ones… I was close to Kajol’s dad. When you go through tough times and losses, that’s when everybody comes closer.” Kajol, on the other hand, termed their coming together as ‘organic’ and explained how it just happened on its own.
