Chandigarh, The Congress vice-president, Mr Rahul Gandhi, would interact with various sections of the Punjab Congress during his visit here on October 16 to gear up the party for future.
Stating this here today, the state party chief, Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, said the immediate challenge before the party was the forthcoming local body elections for which he would invite suggestions from the leaders at various levels to chalk out the strategy to confront the Akali Dal-BJP combine.
His meeting with the block and district presidents would start at 11.45 in the Punjab Congress Bhavan which would be open house discussion as these leaders at the grass roots would be provided the opportunity to have free and frank discussion about the measures to strengthen the party. The strategy to rev up the party for the 2017 Assembly elections would be discussed.
This would be followed up with hour long meeting beginning 2.00 PM with the members of the PPCC, MPs, MLAs and heads of the frontal organisations.
Mr Gandhi would have a first-hand account of the problems facing the farming community in the state at a meeting with the kisan wing representatives at 3.30 PM
