* Bajwa briefs Rahul Gandhi about the ongoing programs
New Delhi/ Chandigarh, June 4: The Congress Vice-President Mr Rahul Gandhi would join the padyatra being organised by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee from October 2 after the conclusion of the on-going programme to interact with the people in the 34 reserve Assembly constituencies to mobilise people against the degenerated and corrupt rule of the Akali Dal-BJP alliance in the state.
This was conveyed by Mr Gandhi to the state party chief Mr Partap Singh Bajwa at a meeting in New Delhi today. Mr Bajwa apprised Mr Gandhi about the mass contact programme launched by the party with focus on dalits and weaker sections in particular across all the reserve constituencies. Under this programme, every section of the people is to be covered in general with special attention on the mobilisation of the down trodden.
Mr Gandhi gave a green signal to Mr Bajwa to go ahead with the programme launched from Sri Hargobindpur on June 2 last. This programme would conclude on September 28. The programme is designed direct interaction of Mr Bajwa with every section of the society in that constituency with emphasis on informality. The feedback thus obtained would be passed on to the party high command for incorporation in the party’s policy programme. Two sessions are to be held in the same village to be finalized from each constituency on the same day.
Mr Bajwa said Mr Gandhi would join the padyatra to be launched by the PPCC from October 2 from Pathankot to cover the entire state in six phases. In each phase the yatra will be done for 15 days.The padyatra would conclude at Amritsar after covering about 1000 kms.
Mr Bajwa also apprised the party Vice-president about the agitations launched by the party on issues concerning the masses. He also briefed the Congress vice President about the Drug Issue agitation which was done by the PPCC in which ultimately the summons were issued by the enforcement directorate. He also cited the moga bus molestation case and how aggressively the PPCC took the issue to the streets ultimately the Hon’ble Punjab Haryana High court issued notices to the Deputy Chief Minister S Sukhbir Singh Badal and his orbit bus company. After the protest by PPCC outside the Faridkot jail the criminal offence against the students was taken back. The PPCC”s relentless fight for the upcoming resort of Badals at Pallanpur also made the Hon’ble high court to intervene and stop the construction of the road to the resort.
