Rahul Gandhi in Bengaluru, calls ‘Karnataka govt most corrupt’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on a visit to Bengaluru has tacitly kicked off the party’s poll campaign for Karnataka by setting a target of over 150 seats for the party.

The MP, who is on a two-day visit to the state was accompanied by the Congress state unit President DK Shivakumar, Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah and other senior state party leaders.

Rahul Gandhi echoed the ‘40% commission minister’ remark during his speech at the party meeting and stated, “Karnataka government is the most corrupt. BJP’s aim is to snatch funds from the poor and give them to the rich. They want to divide the nation. But we want to raise real issues like the economy and unemployment. We want to unite the nation.” He further added, “Congress needs to focus on youth and women for the upcoming elections.”

Rahul Gandhi’s visit comes at a time when the state is debating issues like the Hijab ban, restrictions on non-Hindu traders conducting business inside temple premises and the Halal meat row. Speculations are rife that his visit is set to kick off Karnataka Congress’ 2023 Assembly elections campaign.

Earlier he visited the residence of late actor Puneeth Rajkumar here and paid tribute to the late Kannada superstar.

“I paid my condolences to Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and other family members of famous Kannada actor late Puneeth Rajkumar after visiting their home. Puneeth left unforgettable memories for all Kannadigas at a young age,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Kannada after his visit.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, the party’s Campaign Committee chairman M B Patil, and former union minister KH Muniyappa also accompanied Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress leader had earlier taken part in the 115th birth anniversary event of late Siddaganga Mutt seer Shivakumar Swamiji. “Offered my respects to Late Shri Shivakumara Swamiji on the occasion of his jayanti celebrations at Sree Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkuru, Karnataka. NHAI increases toll fares by 10-65 per cent

The National Highways Authority of India has hiked its toll fares across the country from March 31 midnight. It has increased the toll tax by 10 to 65 per cent as per the vehicle category. The new rates will also be applicable at the toll nakas in the district – Pune-Satara, Pune-Solapur and Pune-Nashik highways. Transporters have said that the hike in toll tax will impact bus fare rates.

In order to ensure that segregated waste is collected from all parts of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation limits, the civic body has hired 25 cycle rickshaws to do the job. As per the civic body, big garbage vehicles cannot reach slums and areas with narrow roads. In order to ensure that these areas are also covered, the cycle rickshaws have been added to the fleet. Three arrested for extorting cylinder delivery person, associate in Pune

The crime branch unit II officials have nabbed three persons for abducting another person on the pretext that he was selling illegal commercial cylinders in the market and forcibly extorted ₹1 lakh from him on March 15. The complainant was taking his LPG gas cylinder distribution vehicle when he was accosted by three persons in a car and two others on a two-wheeler.
