Chandigarh: 07-08-15: The Punjab Youth Congress will go for the polls today in the state for the elections of the president, vice president, general secretary and other body members. The polling will be held in all the district head quarters and some places where the numbers of voters are higher. Approximately the 9000 newly delegates will elect the higher body of Punjab Youth Congress. The polling will be today and tomorrow from 9am to 5pm. The counting will be done on 11th august and the result will be declared the same day.
It may be recalled there are around that there are six candidates in the fray for the president punjab youth congress. They are Deepinder Singh Randhawa, Amar preet SinghLally, DaamanBajwa, Khushbaz Singh Jattana, Kulbir Singh Zira and PoonamKangra. Deepinder Singh Randahawa belongs to the family of fourth generation of committed congressmen. Deepinders great grand fatherS.Dalip Singh Randhawa boycotted govt. job during non cooperation movement and was the ideal of the family. His grandfather S.Santokh Singh Randhawa has been part of congress from 1944. He contested MLA election since 1969 & won 1969, 1972 & 1980 and became cabinet minister (twice) during this tenure. He also became Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president in 1985 and 1997, also was appointed as the state observer for MP, Orissa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Deepinder Singh Randhawawho is district delegate Punjab youth congress from Dera Baba Nanak, Distt. Gurdaspur has remained as vice president NSUI in Punjab. Today Deepinder is looking quite comfortable as for the elections of PYC. All the other candidates are depending on some other political masters to sail them through but Deepinder Singh Randhawa is just banking on his own achievements and works done by him in the PYC, that’s why he has been consistently high performer during entire 4 terms through unit management for PYC. He has been consistently raising the issues of drugs, unemployment, women empowerment and law and order on different platforms.
